What Is the Dear Lottery?

Dear lottery is the popular name for daily state-run lottery draws in India, most famously the West Bengal State Lottery's Dear series and the Nagaland State Lottery's Dear draws. Tickets are sold through licensed retailers in states where lotteries are legal, with morning, day, and evening draws held daily. Each ticket carries a unique number, and results list winners from the first prize down through consolation tiers.

When Are the Dear Lottery Results Declared?

Results are declared three times a day, with draws commonly scheduled around 1 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM Indian time, though timings can shift on public holidays. Each daily draw has its own edition name, such as Dear Morning, Dear Day, and Dear Evening, and results are usually published within an hour or two of the draw.

How to Check Your Dear Lottery Result

The safest way to check is on the official website of the issuing state lottery or a well-known lottery sambad portal republishing official numbers. Match every digit of your ticket against the published list for your exact draw date and time, and check the lower prize tiers too, since many tickets win smaller amounts. Keep the original physical ticket safe, because you need it to claim any prize.

Understanding Prize Tiers and Claiming Winnings

Each result lists multiple tiers: a first prize often around ₹1 crore, followed by second, third, fourth, and fifth prizes plus a consolation prize. Smaller prizes are claimed from the authorized retailer, while larger ones require a visit to the state lottery office with your ticket and ID proof.

Where Dear Lottery Is Legal in India

Lotteries are a state subject in India: West Bengal, Nagaland, Kerala, Punjab, and a few others run official lotteries, while many states ban them outright. Buying or selling tickets is illegal in states that prohibit lotteries, regardless of where the draw is held. Verify both your own state's rules and the seller's authorization before purchasing any ticket.

Play Responsibly: A Word of Caution

Lotteries are games of chance with very long odds and should be treated as occasional entertainment, never as an income plan. Set a strict budget for tickets, never borrow money to play, and stop immediately if playing causes stress or financial strain. If lottery play feels out of control, speak to a trusted person or seek counseling support.
